The company revealed tons of new features, design changes, and much more in the two hour announcement. iOS 7 is finally here and it brings a ton of much needed updates. OS X is alive and well with a shocking new name: OS X Mavericks. Apple’s traditional cat-themed operating system names are gone and replaced with a Californian name.

WWDC 2013: Huge changes for iOS 7

Today at its Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple announced the next version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7. The entire operating system has undergone a redesign with a flat, colorful theme as well as adding tons of new interface features. Apple CEO, Tim Cook calls iOS 7 the biggest change to the operating system since the launch of the iPhone and it’s hard to disagree.

WWDC 2013: Apple announces iTunes Radio

Everyone knew that Apple would be announcing some sort of music streaming service at this year’s WWDC. Rumors have been heating up for months leading up to today’s announcement. While most speculated that Apple would release an music subscription service, what we got was a music streaming service, iTunes Radio, which will go head to head with Pandora but only parts of Spotify, Rdio, Xbox Music, and Google Play Music All Access. Both iTunes Radio and Pandora serve up intelligent radio stations but neither of them provide access to a music library where users can stream and download tracks on demand.

WWDC 2013: Apple reveals Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

The newest version of Mac OS X is here and it’s got a brand new name: Mavericks. Apple has given up on the traditional cat-themed naming for its desktop operating system. While there was no major interface changes in OS X, there are a ton of advanced features and tweaks that will make Mac users excited. There’s a new Finder with a tabbed interface, fixed multi-monitor support, iCloud Keychain to manage your passwords, and Maps comes to the desktop.

WWDC 2013: iWork for iCloud goes after Google Drive

iwork for icloudiWork has been around since 2005 but it never really took off. Microsoft’s Office suite still dominates and Google’s cloud-based office suite, Google Drive, is beginning to become massively popular. Apple has some catching up to do and that’s why they’re releasing iWork for iCloud. iWork finally heads to the cloud in a developers-only beta. A public beta should be released some time this year.
