WeTransfer is a file transfer service that boasts 20 million users, and now there’s a new iOS app that lets you move up to 10GB of photo and video files.

Started in 2009, WeTransfer has been a browser/desktop based service until now. It allowed you to transfer any file up to 2GB for free, which is impressive, but the new mobile app allows transfers of up to 10GB.

The new WeTransfer mobile app is designed especially to send images and video. When given access to your iPhone’s camera roll, you can transfer as many files as you like up to 10GB. You can also allow the app access to your contacts so you can easily find email addresses when you want to send someone a file. The app works on 3G and 4G networks, as well as over Wi-Fi. You can easily pause and restart transfers too, which is great if you don’t wish to use your data plan when leaving a Wi-Fi zone.

WeTransfer mobile allows you to sync with your desktop without the need for wires, and is designed to be as simple as possible.

The app is free, although there’s a premium version with more features. WeTransfer are very open about the cost of the free service: advertising. As soon as you use WeTransfer you’ll notice the impressive background art: these wallpapers are actually glossy advertisements. According to the company, iOS is just the beginning, so we can expect Android and other versions eventually
