Apple announced a new game for iOS and the new iPhone 6 and 6 plus, Vain Glory. A multiplayer online battle arena game, like Valve’s Dota2.

The big difference between Vain Glory and Dota2, of course, is touch – this game is designed for touch screens. It looks great – Apple claim games on their new phones run at higher resolutions than Xbox One and PS4, but we can’t comment on how well the touch controls work yet.

We also learned that Vain Glory can fit over 100 ‘fully animated characters’ on screen. Stylistically, this still looks like a mobile game, but still a very pretty one. Being a mobile game, it’s unlikely to threaten PC games like Dota2, and as we saw in previous years with Infinity Blade, Apple has a tendency to show of impressive looking games that don’t in the end threaten the depth gamers are used to on PC and consoles.

We’ll be sure to check out Vain Glory, and see if it lives up to expectations, as soon as we can.
