Office Web Apps updates with real-time editing and Android tablet support

office 2013 iconMicrosoft is playing catch-up with Google as they’ve just updated their Office Web Apps to include real-time editing and Android tablet support. Real-time co-authoring is also in the works for the next few months, which will allow Office Web App users to see changes to a document immediately. These updates seem minor, especially when you realize that Google Drive has had these features for years.

Android tablets will finally get Office Web Apps support for working on the go soon. While Windows 8 tablets and iPads already support Office Web Apps, this will be the first time it comes to Android via support for the mobile version of Chrome. Currently, there’s no solid date as to when Microsoft will roll out Android support.
