The latest Google Search update for Android adds new voice commands, allowing you to say ‘OK Google take a photo’, or video.

To use the new commands, you need to have voice activated in settings, and then you’ll be able to open your camera app simply by asking for it. On Google+, the search giant explains how this could help you to catch the perfect moment, instead of having to ‘fumble with your phone to open the camera app’.

Telling voice to take a photo doesn’t actually mean it takes a photo, simply that the camera opens, so depending on how much you ‘fumble’ it may still be quicker to hit the camera icon. Of course, having an extra way to access your camera is no bad thing whether its faster or not.

Google has been adding more and more voice functionality to its services, and this may all be related to its recently announced Android Wear operating system for smart watches and wearable tech.

Camera activation is currently only available on Android.
