Popular photography app, VSCO Cam (Android | iOS), has been updated with social features and performance enhancements. The company has finally integrated VSCO Grid, its publishing platform, into the Android app. You’ll also be able to discover photographers and follow them, just like Instagram.

VSCO Cam headerVSCO Grid is a place for photographers to show off their work. It’s a great place to discover people to follow and you can create your own Grid for free. VSCO Grid is curated by human beings so you get the best photos delivered to the app.

You can now follow your VSCO friends within the app by searching for their username. If you don’t have any friends using VSCO, you can follow other photographers by browsing photos in VSCO Grid.

While VSCO may share features with Instagram, the experience is completely different. Instagram is more casual and friendly, but VSCO is for photography nerds. The quality of photos posted to VSCO are much higher than in Instagram, so you’d better get acquainted with the app’s filters and editing tools to make sure your photos look great.

VSCO also offers up tons more professionally created filters for sale in the store. I’ve purchased a few and each one offers a unique look for different situations. You can dial back the filter’s power and modify it with VSCO’s advanced settings.

The app is easy to use but suffers from some lag. Loading the store takes a few seconds and there’s noticeable lag bouncing between sections of the app.

Still, VSCO Cam is one of the best mobile photography apps around. If you’re interested in photography or art, the app is definitely worth the download.
