The Titanfall beta has is open to everyone who registered before February 15th, and runs until the 19th. The game will appear in My Games Library in EAs Origin app.

Developer Respawn and EA are keen to make sure the Titanfall servers are significantly tested before the game launches on March 11th. An online multiplayer first person shooter, it’s important that players don’t have trouble getting into games once it launches. EA will want to be sure to avoid a repeat of last year’s disastrous SimCity launch, which severely damaged its reputation. Respawn tweeted that the servers are strained, but they hope waiting times for getting into games will shortened as more servers are added.

To play the beta you need the Origin app, which is EAs PC gaming platform, and the following minimum PC specifications.

  • 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1
  • AMD Athlon X2 2.8GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
  • 4GB RAM
  • 512MB VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT

EA has yet to release the recommended specs for Titanfall on PC – to get the most out of this next gen shooter, you’ll need something much more powerful than the minimum requirements.

The beta includes two maps, Angel City and Fracture, with three game modes: Attrition, Last Titan Standing, and Hardpoint. Attrition is a team deathmatch mode, Last Titan Standing seens all players spawn directly into the giant Titans, while Hardpoint gives you the task of controlling points on the maps. None of the experience of statistics you gain during the beta will carry over to the full game, which is a fairly hefty download of 12 GB.
