Taking selfies with your front camera can yield mixed results. While great for video calls, the front camera on most phones are not designed for taking good photos. Enter Smart Selfie, an app that helps you take the perfect selfie with facial recognition and voice guidance.

The app works by detecting faces (the app asks how many faces to look for) and giving you verbal instructions on how to center your phone. It can take some getting used to as the slightest movements can throw the camera off-center. It’s also not the best app to use in a quiet setting since your phone will be belting out commands.

Once the app detects that your face is centered, it will take a photo automatically. This beats trying to guess where the camera shutter button is.

You can then share your amazingly high resolution selfie to social networks like Facebook or to your photo editing app of choice.

Smart Selfie is a new app so expect some bugs. It takes some getting used to but if your phone doesn’t have a front camera or your front camera takes terrible photos, Smart Selfie may be worth a download.
