Following the leaked Windows 9 desktop screenshots, German site WinFuture has now published a video showing how the new Start Menu will work. Watch the video below.

The Start Menu appears by clicking the Windows logo as normal, and displays a mixture of the ‘traditional’ desktop apps and new Live Tiles. It really looks like everyone who’s missed the Start Menu will be happy with what Microsoft is doing.

The left side of the new start menu looks like the old one, although your user account name now sits at the top of the list. The right hand panel now displays Live Tiles, and you can arrange which ones you want to see on the Start Menu.

What these leaks don’t reveal is whether or not Microsoft will indeed name the next Windows ‘Windows 9’ or simply ‘Windows’. The latter seems more likely, as this will happen to Windows Phone this year, and it looks like the company is moving towards a unified Windows experience, with regular iterative updates rather than revolutionary new versions.
