Real time strategy sequel Company of Heroes 2 now has an open beta for multiplayer, which you can download and play on PC through Steam until June 18th. The game is released on June 25th

The first game was excellent, and this multiplayer open beta lets you try both cooperative and competitive modes. There are six maps, and any progress you make can be kept if you buy the full game (up to 60 days after release). The Company of Heroes 2 open beta allows you to get to level 45 of it’s progress system, so you could be quite advanced by the time the game is released.

Company of Heroes 2 is set in World War II like its predecessor, but this time the action takes place on the eastern front. The game introduces a new faction to fight with: the Soviet Red Army, and uses a new game engine called Essence 3.0 which looks really impressive. Another innovation is ‘TrueSight’, which is a line-of-sight technology that takes into account the environment better so your units will only be able to successfully hit targets they can see.
