Images have leaked from one of two 2014 Assassin’s Creed games, and appears to show the action taking place in Paris. It may be called Assassin’s Creed Unity, or it could be that ‘Unity’ is just an internal code name.
The images were leaked to Kotaku, and show scenes with Paris landmarks like the river Seine and Notre Dame. Paris has been a rumored location for the next Assassin’s Creed for a while, and it’s a perfect mix for a convoluted tale about the Knights Templar. Paris was a major location in both Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code and Umberto Eco’s Foucault’s Pendulum – its rich history makes it ideal for historical thrillers.
There has been an Assassin’s Creed game every year since 2009, so it’s not a surprise that there will be another this year. But two new games raises some questions. Kotaku believes both are ‘major releases’, and suggests that Unity will be for the ‘next-gen’ platforms, including PCs, while the second game, codenamed ‘Comet’, will be for last generation consoles. Another possibility is the second project is a smaller mobile game, like the recent ‘Assassin’s Creed Pirates’.
