With Labor Day weekend upon us in the United States, there are a lot of deals in iTunes for different apps and games.
Many of these deals are only for the weekend or the early days of September, so if there is something you have been waiting to get discounted now is the time search for it.

Many publishers are discounting their catalogs, so look around and you might find something special.

Here are some of the bigger games on sale for Labor Day. Publishers Electronic Arts, Big Fish Games, and Gameloft appear to be leading the pack on discounted titles for the weekend.

The 911 Memorial: Past, Present and Future – iPad (Free for a limited time)

The 911 Memorial: Past, Present, and Future app is an interactive app designed to take users through the history of the Twin Towers. Featuring videos and high resolution videos, The 911 Memorial is a tribute to the landmark. The app also includes an updated interactive timeline of the reconstruction of the Twin Towers.

Reckless Getaway – iOS Universal ($0.99)

Reckless Getaway is a racing game that requires players to escape pursuing police. Running away from a bank robbery, players have to speed through incoming and oncoming traffic to freedom over sixteen varied levels. The high definition graphics on the iPad add a great sense of speed and excitement adding to the fun of Reckless Getaway.

FIFA 11 – iPad ($1.99)

FIFA 11 is one of the greatest recognized soccer brands for consoles and, more recently, mobile devices. The iPad game features local multiplayer and more precise control. FIFA 11 is also the only licensed game released so all the teams featured are updated and true to form. Be aware the high quality graphics and gameplay bring the game to 1.24 GB.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – iPad ($1.99)

One of the most popular FPS franchises has made its way to the iPad. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 had one of the best stories in recent time and the optimized iPad version is no different. The game includes fourteen single player missions over five battlegrounds, as well as ten player multiplayer with OTA, WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth support.

Dead Space – iPad ($1.99)

Survival horror was evolved with Dead Space and the iPad version stays true to form. With an original story, Dead Space contains the same frightening experience for single player, including survival and endless modes. Fans of the first game and its sequel will find another exciting experience here.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within HD – iPad ($0.99)

The revitalized Prince of Persia brought platform games to next generation devices. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within on iPad does the same thing by offering classic action. Featuring twelve chapters, the Prince of Persia experience is not one to be missed. It may feel old, but the gameplay mechanics are among the best for the genre.

Resident Evil 4: PLATINUM – iPhone ($0.99)

When fans complained about Resident Evil 3, Capcom changed the entire experience with Resident Evil 4. Bringing back Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 2, his adventure into Los Illuminiados hooked a whole new generation of players. Using the same 3rd person perspective, Resident Evil 4: PLATINUM uses the accelerometer of the iPhone in new ways. Besides the story mode, Resident Evil 4: PLATINUM also includes Mercenary Mode and Coin Shoot gallery mode for an even more impressive experience.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard HD – iPad ($0.99)

Rainbow Six has quickly become an iconic series. The leader of a special forces unit, players will experience eleven missions and three new classes of team members to accomplish their missions. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard also includes co-op and ten player multiplayer.

Tetris – iPad ($1.99)

Everyone should already know what Tetris is. Matching the various shapes to create solid lines across the screen and making strategic placement decisions is Tetris’ classic gameplay. But Tetris for iPad is a bit different with new directional pad controls, endless marathon mode, and the original Tetris music.

Max and the Magic Marker – iPad ($0.99)

Winner of IGF 2010 D2D Vision Award, Max and the Magic Marker is a popular physics-based puzzle platformer. Using the magic marker, players can draw in Max’s world by creating objects to interact with. Fifty-eight levels over three worlds will keep you occupied for some time to come.

These games are only a small selection of what is being offered for Labor Day weekend and the beginning of September. Now is definitely the time to find and purchase all the apps and games you might have missed when they originally released.
