Google Chrome for iOS has been updated to version 27, and brings improved voice search, faster voice recognition and results that can be spoken back to you.

Chrome is probably the best alternative to Safari on iOS, and version 27 makes it even better suited to browsing on the go. Voice search and faster voice recognition is meant to make getting search results faster, and the redesigned interface makes voice much easier to use. Whereas before voice search was opened by tapping a tiny icon in the search bar, now it’s a big button over the keyboard making it much easier to access.

Voice search is quite accurate, and results are quick, so if you’re not embarrassed by talking to your smart phone, it’s a good system. Spoken results are a mixed bag – Chrome doesn’t always give you the option to listen to search results, and it’s not clear what the criteria for spoken results are. Pages do seem to reload faster in Chrome 27, which is always good news.

Download Google Chrome 27 for iOS.
