Launched in 2011, Activision’s Call of Duty Elite service is shutting down on February 28th. It was released to support Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops II, offering user statistics across games and social networking features.

Call of Duty Elite was originally a premium service, but soon went free. Since the release of last year’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, most of Elite’s features have been available in the companion Call of Duty App for Android and iOS. The new app keeps your stats for you, and also lets you customize your player, weapon loudouts and more.

It appears that stats from Call of Duty Elite won’t carry over to the new companion app: Activision says your stats will still exist ‘in-game’, which isn’t much of a consolation for fans of Elite.

As a reward for sticking with Elite, any Call of Duty: Ghosts players still using it will get a reward of ‘two hours double XP‘ (in game experience points). This applies to anyone who have logged into the service since January 14th, and will be applied to your stats ‘soon’.
