Ubisoft have confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed franchise will continue this year, with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. As the rumors suggested, there is indeed a Pirate theme to the game, as you can see from the background of the box art below.

The artwork also shows the protagonist, although he probably best described as ‘generic Assassin’s Creed man’ at the moment. We’ll have to wait for details about his history and links to the Assassins.

Assassin’s Creed III is on course to be the biggest ever selling AC game, despite being one of the most divisive. Praised for its fantastically realized locations, it suffered from being overloaded with activities that spoiled the pacing of the story. Ubisoft can be trusted to make a wonderful pirate setting for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but the story is harder to predict now Desmond’s trilogy has finished.

Now we know the setting, what are your hopes for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag?
