Angry Birds is a popular multi-platform game that has already generated over 700 million downloads as a mobile app since it’s release in December 2009.

Now you can now play it as an an app on Facebook.

If you’re an avid Facebook user, as well as a fan of those famously militant birds and their egg-stealing swine opponents, now you can combine the best of both worlds. In addition, you now get to enjoy the social interaction of Facebook with your Angry Birds gameplay, as well as some really cool new features.

Social elements

On top of the levels you’re already familiar with, you can now go head-to-head with your participating Facebook friends, as well as invite friends who haven’t added the app yet. Keep track of the points you earn  as you complete each level and aim to beat friends with higher scores. If you manage to do so, you can even click the “brag” button to inform them of your victory directly on their Facebook Walls. In addition, the highest three scorers on each level will earn a gold, silver or bronze coin.

New power-ups

Power-ups give your birds a little something extra to defeat the pigs they’re pitted against on each level. Currently, there are four new power-ups available: Sling Scope, King Sling, Super Seeds and Birdquake.

Sling Scope lets users see where their bird will ultimately end up using a laser target to aim. It’s a great power-up to use if you’re having difficulties hitting a pig that’s in a tricky location. King Sling is an upgrade to your slingshot that makes your birds fly longer and faster, while Super Seeds will increase the size of your bird for maximum damage on impact. Lastly, Birdquake initiates an earthquake that will knock most of the pigs’ defensive structures down to the ground around them.

You can earn extra power-ups simply by playing the game regularly. There’s also the option to give your friends “mystery gifts” of power-ups, as well as to make an in app purchase of them.

Extra power-ups offer

You will receive 14 free power-ups just by adding the app on Facebook today until February 16. If you want to get a head-start on the road to beating your friends’ scores, these power-ups will definitely come in handy!
