YouTube’s comment system is now officially powered by Google+. The video sharing site first announced its intention to overhaul its commenting system back in September. Users will have to link their YouTube account with their Google+ account if they want to comment on videos. Google is hoping this will enrich the conversations held on YouTube, ridding the service of anonymous and irrelevant comments.

YouTube wants to bring relevant topics of conversation to the top of videos by promoting comments by the video’s creator, popular personalities, and people in your Google+ Circles. Users will also be able to comment publicly or privately by selecting which Circle they want to share the comment with. This means you can tag your friends in a comment without the comment showing up publicly on the video page.
