Facebook’s stickers, which were introduced to Facebook Messenger in 2013, are now available in comments on posts, group posts, and event posts. Stickers are big, cartoony images that work like emoticons and according to Facebook ‘allow people to reply to a variety of posts in a more fun way than words alone.’

As soon as you try to leave a comment somewhere on Facebook, whether on a computer or mobile, you’ll see a little popup message saying you can now use stickers. You’ll have the same sets of stickers you have installed on messenger, and can access the sticker store as usual to get more packs.

Stickers are a development of emoticons, but their greater detail and variety means you can express a little more with them, though some people will still prefer to use words. They started life in Japan in 2011, and first became really popular through messaging app LINE.
