Microsoft finally brings Xbox Music and Xbox Video to its mobile operating system. Windows Phone 8 users can now enjoy streaming music and video using Microsoft’s own services. While Windows Phone 8 already integrates features from Xbox Music, separating them into an app makes more sense and offers a similar user experience on different platforms like Windows 8.1 and the web.

Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8 is currently labeled as a “preview,” as Microsoft works on expanding its functionality. The app also requires users to have an Xbox Music Pass subscription to function. Music Pass subscribers will be able to search for and download songs to their device from the Xbox Music store. Microsoft hopes to roll out a completed version by 2014.

Xbox Video for Windows Phone 8 brings streaming video content to Windows Phone users with synced playback between devices. This means you can start watching a video on one device and continue where you left off on another.
