The new iCloud Drive improves the way data is synced between the cloud and your devices. Windows just gained support for the revamped iCloud Drive but Mac users are left waiting until OS X Yosemite is released.
iCloud Drive offers a logical way to organize your files, much like a traditional drive with folders. Previously, iCloud tried to hide your files from you to make the service easier to use, but it ended up confusing users who tried to access their data.
When iOS 8 debuted this week, developers warned users not to upgrade to iCloud Drive yet as it will stop your devices from syncing all your app settings and other data. Mac users will have to wait to use iCloud Drive since the unreleased OS X Yosemite will be the first version of OS X to support the feature.
OS X Yosemite is expected to debut this fall but Apple has not specified a date yet. iPhone users who use Windows on their computer can feel free to upgrade to iCloud Drive now and rub it into their Mac-loving friends.
