whatsapp play bannerThere’s no doubt that WhatsApp is a popular messaging replacement but just how popular? The company announced yesterday that reached a record 27 billion messages sent in 24 hours. 10 billion messages were sent inbound while the other 17 billion messages were received. this is mighty impressive compared to their record of 18 billion messages daily in 2012.

So what’s up with the discrepancy between inbound and received messages? It seems that WhatsApp is a popular group messaging app so group messages sent by one person to multiple people generate many more received messages.

WhatsApp’s ability to send text messages, photos, videos, audio, location, and contact information makes it a useful utility for communication. It also helps that WhatsApp is on all of the major platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Symbian, and more.

Want to try WhatsApp for yourself? You can get download it for your phone here on Softonic in the download links below.
