In development for three years, Assassin’s Creed: Unity has been officially outed by published Ubisoft with a short video of impressive in-game footage.

As we reported last week, Assassin’s Creed Unity will be set in revolutionary France, and will be released in time for the holidays in Fall/Winter 2014. Unity will be the first developed exclusively for next gen consoles, and you can see the difference that makes in the alpha footage in the video below. The official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account confirmed that the video is gameplay and not cut scenes.

Last Year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was a return to form for the series, with its excellent naval combat and rich, fascinating open world to explore. Assassin’s Creed Unity will have to have more than pretty graphics to impress this year.

Another Assassin’s Creed game is rumored to be in development, possibly named ‘Comet’, which could be either a mobile title or a game for last generation consoles. That raises the possibility of two Assassin’s games for PC this year. Stay tuned for more.
