Users report latest Chrome for iOS update is unstable [updated]

Chrome for iOS version 25.01364.86 came out yesterday, but many users are saying the update makes the browser unusable.
Most complaints say Chrome crashes on launch after updating.

We got our team to test the update on a range of iOS devices, and got mixed results. The majority of iOS devices worked fine, but we did find isolated crashing problems. We have tested on iOS 6.2.1 and 6.2.0.

What’s not clear from the user comments in the App Store is whether these users are using the same iOS version. If you are absolutely tied to using Chrome, it might be sensible to wait a few days to see if there is a Chrome bug, or it’s another problem.

I updated without problems, but I would be happy to use Safari or Opera for a while if Chrome didn’t work.

[UPDATE]

This Chromium project, from where Chrome gets its code, is aware of this bug.

It only affects users who have jailbroken their iOS devices – and we have verified that the only device we found that crashed had also been jailbroken.

iOS is a very stable operating system, and if you jailbreak it, you leave yourself open to this kind of crash. It’s not reasonable to complain that updated or new apps do not run on iOS devices that have been jailbroken! Developers cannot be held responsible for problems created by people trying to bypass Apple’s “walled garden” of  the App Store.
