Google is strengthening its app ecosystem on iOS by allowing users of their Gmail app to open links in other Google Apps.

In older versions of Gmail for iOS, links would open within the app in a basic browser. There were only buttons to move forward/back and open links in Chrome or Safari. This was an inelegant solution so Google has updated the Gmail app for iOS to allow links to open up in Google Chrome, if you have the app installed. Links to YouTube and Google Maps will also open up in their respective apps.

If you prefer for links not open up in Google’s apps, there is a quick way to turn the feature off. Open up the side navigation bar (button with three horizontal stripes) and tap on the gear icon to access the app’s settings. From there, tap on the section labeled “Google Apps.” Here you’ll find toggles for Chrome, Google Maps, and YouTube.

Another minor feature in this update is the ability to log out of single accounts. Previously, the app only allowed users to log out of all accounts, which was a hassle for those who only wanted to log out of one account.

If you already have Gmail installed on your iPhone or iPad, you can check for an update on your device or download it here on Softonic.
