Rovio, the creators of the Angry Birds series, has finally created a cloud syncing solution for its games. If you play the same game on multiple devices, your progress will finally sync between them. This means your progress, scores, and achievements will be synced to Rovio’s cloud and will be available to all of your devices. No more starting from scratch!
To sign up for a Rovio Account, you’ll have to enter your email address and that’s it. You’ll get a confirmation email to confirm that you do, in fact, own that email address. Once confirmed, all of your game progress will be synced to Rovio’s cloud. You’ll now have the same gameplay experience on multiple devices, no matter where you’re playing.
Rovio Accounts is a great solution for Rovio games as it works across platforms. While Apple’s Game Center will probably get this functionality in the future, it will only work on iOS devices using Apple’s proprietary iCloud sync.
Since Rovio Account is brand new, there are quite a few caveats. The biggest one is that it only supports The Croods globally, and the original Angry Birds in Poland and Finland. As the service grows, Rovio will integrate Rovio Account support in more games. Power-ups that you purchase on a specific device will only be accessible on that device so don’t expect to use your Mighty Eagle across your devices.
