Possible images of a redesigned WhatsApp for iOS 7 have appeared on Twitter, circulated by a German user 0xiln.

If real, this is the first we’ve seen of the new WhatsApp design. There will be undoubtedly be such an update, but the company has not announced anything officially yet. 0xiln said on Twitter that he is testing version 2.11.6, and that there are still bugs in the new app, so it may be some time before its ready for release. You can see from the image that shared images appear bigger in the redesigned app.

Rumored WhatsApp for iOS 7 images emerge

WhatsApp is one of the few really big apps yet to release an iOS 7 friendly design. Using it today in iOS 7 is like stepping back into iOS 6 briefly, with the same old keyboard and shiny design. A flat design, as shown in 0xiln’s picture is surely on the way, regardless of whether his image is real or not.

We reached out to 0xiln to learn more about his access to this WhatsApp beta for iOS 7. He says he’s in the beta channel for WhatsApp, which has been closed to new users since 2011. According to 0xiln, real name Ilhan Pektas, WhatsApp for iOS 7 features a completely new design, a new security system, new icon, new gesture controls, bigger images, a better location system, profile pictures in your Favorites tab, and a new image editor tool.

We’ve contacted WhatsApp for comment. See more screenshots below.
