Grand Theft Auto Online debuted to a rough start and Rockstar is aware that players are frustrated. To make it up to players, the company is giving every GTA Online player $500,000 of in-game cash to make up for server timeouts, lost saves, and other technical issues.

Over the next month, Rockstar will begin filling players’ wallets with two payments of $250,000. The company wants to confirm that the game progress loss bug has been fixed entirely before distributing the money. There’s no specific dates as to when the payments will be made but the company has stated it will announce them soon. We’ll let you know when Rockstar has any updates.

To be eligible for the $500,000 of GTA$, you have to have played GTA Online any time during October 2013 and install an upcoming patch (v1.04 coming next week) to fix remaining issues. No other special requirements are needed to redeem the in-game cash.
