Microsoft killed Outlook.com’s linked accounts back in June in favor of aliases. The company cited security concerns as the reason behind discontinuing the popular feature. Now the company has updated Outlook.com to support renaming their primary email address to any secondary alias already in a user’s account.
Microsoft has offered using a different email address for your Microsoft account and offers linking social media accounts to it as well. Today, Microsoft is offering more flexibility with using aliases by allowing users to sign in to different Microsoft services with different aliases. Any other alias you currently have in your Outlook.com account can also be easily switched to become the primary alias for your account.
To manage your aliases, head over to https://account.live.com/ and click on the “Account aliases” section. Follow the instructions and you can switch, remove, or verify your aliases.
