Microsoft’s cheapest Office subscription is now available for $69.99 per year. That price will get you one year of support for one PC or Mac and one Windows tablet or iPad. While the Office for iPad app is free, editing files requires a subscription.

If you want to work with Office documents on the go, the Office 365 Personal subscription is your cheapest choice. You can pay for an entire year for $70 or pay $6.99 per month if you don’t want to commit. In addition to editing abilities, you’ll get 20GB of OneDrive storage, 60 minutes of Skype calls per month, and access to the latest updates.

Word for iPad

If you have a family that wants to use Office, you can step up to the Office 365 Home subscription for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. This allows you to use Office on up to five PCs or Macs plus five Windows tablets or iPads.

Subscription models are taking over the traditional buy-it-once model. Adobe killed its Creative Suite of apps in favor for the subscription based Creative Cloud. Like it or not, software subscriptions are here to stay.
