Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, a side scrolling spin off of its huge adventure franchise. Now, the company has said that we can expect more from Chronicles, with each new chapter exploring a different part of the AC universe.

These comments came in an interview with Eurogamer. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China will feature protagonist Shao Jun, who has already been mentioned in the novelization of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and Embers, the animated epilogue of that game.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China looks like an updated Prince of Persia, but with Chinese ink-style art. Assassin’s Creed: Unity creative director Alex Amancio says that each successive chapter of Chronicles will have art styles that suit their locations and eras. Assassin’s Creed fans have made lots of requests for new locations in the game, and Chronicles is an opportunity for Ubisoft to answer some of those.

Amancio did not say how future chapters would be released. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China will be free for season pass players of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, but there’s no word if it will be available as a standalone title.

Ubisoft is releasing a host of Assassin’s Creed games over the next few months. As well as Chronicles and Unity, there will be Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, the compendium Birth of a New World, and Assassin’s Creed: Identity.
