MSFT iconLast week, Microsoft released the latest security patches for the Windows 7 operating system but many users have reported having issues with the update. Some users have reported crashes while others have reported that their computers won’t even boot any more.

The update in question, 2823324, has now been pulled from the Windows auto update while Microsoft investigates the issues that users are having. The patch was supposed to patch “a moderate-level vulnerability.” The MS13-036 update apparently contained fixes for 13 separate security vulnerabilities. Dustin Child, Group Manager for Microsoft Trustworthy Computer, issues a blog post about why the updates were pulled.

“We’ve determined that the update, when paired with certain third-party software, can cause system errors. As a precaution, we stopped pushing 2823324 as an update when we began investigating the error reports, and have since removed it from the download center.”

Childs goes on to recommend that people uninstall patch 2823324. It’s still unknown which specific third-party software is causing the conflict but some users are reporting that Kaspersky Anti-Virus is causing Windows to display an error message.

Windows 7 users will have to wait patiently for Microsoft to fully explain the cause of the issues as well as waiting for the company to re-release the security patch.
