Microsoft’s Office 365 subscription service launched in 2011 with the cheapest plan costing $9.99 per month. Today, the company began offering a cheaper subscription called Office 365 Personal. It costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 for a year.

A subscription to Office 365 Personal gives you access to all programs in Office 2013, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and more. With the Personal subscription, you’re limited to using Office on one computer and one tablet.

The more expensive Office 365 Home subscription costs $9.99 and allows you to install Office on up to five computers. The subscription covers both Macs and PCs so you can install Office 2011 for Mac if needed. The service was previously named Office 365 Home Premium but will transition to its new name when Office 365 Personal arrives some time this spring.

Microsoft is getting more aggressive with lowering the price of its productivity apps. Yesterday, we reported that OneNote is coming to the Mac and that the app will be free for both Mac and Windows.
