Apple announced an update to iWork for Mac, iOS and iCloud today, redesigning the app to fit the look of iOS 7 as well as finally bringing collaboration to the company’s productivity suite. The company also announced that the update will be today for download and will be completely free for newly purchased Mac and iOS devices.
Collaboration finally comes to the productivity suite so you and your friend (or group of friends) can edit a document together. Users can simply send out a URL to the document once they’re ready to collaborate. Changes will be seen immediately and collaboration will work across platforms since it’s web based.
Beyond a redesign, iWork gets a ton of new features like new transitions for Keynote as well as content-sensitive editing panes. The update focuses on bringing your content to the forefront, getting rid of unnecessary parts of the interface to help you become more productive.
The updated iWork is available today and will be free with the purchase of any new Mac or iOS device. Apple also announced that the updated iLife suite of apps, which include iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband, will be available for free today as well.
