A new version of iTunes is coming, but you won’t be able to get your hands on it until later this fall when it debuts with OS X Yosemite. Fortunately, we got our hands on a preview of iTunes 12. Here’s everything’s that’s changed.
The interface remains much the same, but the navigation menus have moved around. Instead of a drop-down menu, sections for music, apps, movies, and more are accessed by the icons in the upper left. This change is subtle but helps each section become more visible.
By the way, iTunes 12 sports a new red (or is it orange?) icon.
Music still looks the same, with a grid of album art. Click on an album and the individual songs will expand below.
When you plug in a device like an iPhone, an icon will show up at the top. Click on it and you’ll be taken to the familiar management screen.
The App and iTunes stores also look exactly the same as they do now.
As you can see, not much has changed in iTunes 12, but it’s still early days. Apple has until later this fall to release the program and I’m sure they’ve got a lot more changes coming.
