Epic Games today announced Infinity Blade III at Apple’s special event where new iPhones and the iOS 7 launch date were announced.

Infinity Blade III was leaked a month ago accidentally on a LinkedIn profile, but the game’s existence at all comes as a surprise as earlier this year the series seemed in jeopardy after Infinity Blade Dungeons was canceled.

Taking advantage of the power of the iPhone 5S, which Apple claim has up to 56 times faster graphics, Infinity Blade III is typically flashy. It looks like, there’s more exploration involved, as was expected in Dungeons, while the combat maintains the swiping action that millions of gamers already know.

Epic Games announced that Infinity Blade III is the epic conclusion of the trilogy, so this will be the last time we see the series as a flagship for an Apple device. Infinity Blade broke records when it was released in December 2011, grossing over $1.6 million in four days. The sequel was also a huge success, which made the announcement of Infinity Blade Dungeons cancellation surprising. It looks like the game was dropped in favor of Infinity Blade III.
