Google Trends is a useful tool for discovering the most popular searches, and recently some cool new features have been added. You can now check out Top Charts by category, and see a cool ‘live’ visualization of top searches.

The great looking visualization is available globally, or you can see searches from the following regions: the United States, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UK. More countries will undoubtedly be added later.

For Top charts, you can currently see results for the US – so ‘Dog’ maybe the number one animal stateside, but we’ll have to wait for Top Charts to be expanded before we can easily find out if that is true elsewhere.

The visualization looks great, but isn’t really useful. However, the Top Charts are an excellent development for Google Trends, making it really easy to see what searches are popular in different categories each month. It’s now a much more accessible tool for that anyone can use and understand easily.
