Leaked images of Google’s upcoming bookmarking system have emerged. “Google Stars” is Google’s experimental feature that makes bookmarking much more powerful.

The problem with bookmarks is that you file them away and forget about them. Google Stars wants to make bookmarks smart and easily searchable. Google Stars will search for all content on a web page so you don’t have to remember the title of the page you’re looking for. It will also pull images from pages and put them in a visual layout.

Automatic sorting is a new feature but traditional folders still exist in Stars. Users can drag and drop bookmarks into and out of folders and easily share entire folders of bookmarks with Stars.

Security is also a big part of Google Stars, scanning your saved pages for malware and malicious links. Stars will automatically detect dead pages and spam, archiving them to keep you safe.

The leaked screenshots show Google Stars working within Chrome and ChromeOS. We expect to hear more about Stars during Google’s I/O developer conference in June.
