Google is combating Apple’s Healthkit with its own health and fitness tracking platform. Google Fit allows apps and devices to create a fitness profile for users, giving app developers a central hub where they can push their information to.

By logging data from all the different sensors included in various fitness trackers and Google’s own Android Wear smartwatches, Google Fit can compile the data to give users health related recommendations. Google Fit will be smart, analyzing your activity and providing recommendations on eating habits and your workout.

Google has partnered with popular fitness brands like Adidas, Nike, Basis, and more, and widely used running apps Runtastic and RunKeeper are already on board. As for the Google Fit software development kit, it will be arriving in the next few weeks.
