The latest Google Chrome Beta makes it easier for you to find tabs that are making noise, using your webcam or Chromecast. Tabs now have little icons that tell you what they are doing, so you don’t need to click through them to find out which is making noise!

We first saw this feature being tested back in February, but since then the icon design has changed radically. The first audio indicator was an animated icon, but that’s been replaced by a simpler, more recognizable speaker icon. If a site is using your webcam a red ‘recording’ icon appears, while if you’re casting a tab to your TV, it shows a tiny blue TV icon.

Chrome Beta 32 also features Safe Browsing, which warns you if you try to visit malicious websites or download files identified as malware. In Windows 8 ‘Modern UI’ mode Chrome now gets an integrated Chrome app launcher. It looks exactly like the Chrome OS, making Chrome in Windows 8 almost like an operating system in itself, as we reported last month.
