gamescom2012Gamescom 2012 is in full swing and soccer fans will be happy to know that Electronic Arts showed off more FIFA 13 action. The FIFA franchise has been around for ages and there hasn’t really been anything that revolutionary in its past releases. EA took it upon themselves to try and make FIFA 13 much more realistic by introducing a feature called Match Day.

So what exactly is Match Day? It’s actually a pretty cool feature that incorporates real world events throughout the soccer season. For example, injuries, suspensions, and team form will all be taken into account in FIFA 13 and will directly affect the teams that you play as or against.

Information is updated on a daily basis so you’ll want to have your gaming console connected to the internet to receive these updates. The Match Day feature used to only be available in the ‘Live Season’ mode of FIFA but it is now an integral part of the game.

EA also announced updates to the Ultimate Team mode, which includes a tutorial for newbies, a ‘Team of the Week‘ feature, and weekly challenges based on the real soccer season. There will also be a Skill Games mode where players can hone their shooting, passing, and other skills. All of this adds up to a better two vs two and co-op experience.

In addition to these game modes, FIFA 13 will see a smarter AI, better dribbling control, and new game modes to keep gameplay fresh.

FIFA 13 will keep loyal fans pleased while trying to gain new players with more realism and tutorials. FIFA 13 will be released on September 25 in North America and September 28 for Europe. There will be a demo available on Xbox and PS3 on September 11th.

Can FIFA 13 take on PES 2013? We’ll find out in September!
