facebook home iconFacebook Home launched Friday and was only available to those in the United States. Less than a week later, Facebook has made Home available to the rest of the world, with the roll out taking place over the next day or two. While the app will be available to download worldwide, it is still only supported on a number of HTC and Samsung devices, which include the HTC One X/X+, HTC First, Samsung Galaxy S III, and the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Corey Ondrejka, Facebook’s VP of mobile engineering, gave an explanation about why Facebook Home was only initially released in the United States:

“Just today we’re going to be opening [Home] up to the rest of the world,” Ondrejka announced. “We launched in the U.S. because we wanted to make sure we could iron out any remaining bugs.”

Ondrejka doesn’t elaborate on what those bugs are. Facebook has stated that Home will be getting its first update during the second week of May, hopefully to address user concerns. Home has been getting very negative reviews in Google Play, though some of the “reviews” may just be users complaining about not being able to get Home on their devices. Don’t worry though. We have a complete guide on how to install Facebook Home on any Android 4.0 device.

iOS users who have Facebook Home envy can update their Facebook apps to  at least get the Chat Heads feature. While it’s unlikely that Facebook Home will ever come to iOS, both Apple and Facebook are in discussions about how to get Home onto Apple’s devices.
