bittorrent surfDownloading torrent files can be intimidating and confusing to some. BitTorrent is attempting to make it easier for everyone to use torrents by releasing a torrent client for Google Chrome called BitTorrent Surf. Now you can search and download torrents from within Chrome!

This is a very early alpha build of BitTorrent Surf so there aren’t many features like upload/download speed caps or file automation. Still, it works very well and makes searching super simple. Google, Bing, and Yahoo! are all included as default search engines, but BitTorrent Surf allows users to add their own custom search engines. Searches and downloads are quick, if the health of the torrent is good. Search results will show the health and other information about the torrent.

BitTorrent is working on an experimental feature in Surf that will allow users to stream media that they’ve downloaded to their smart phone. You can sign up to be alerted when this feature is available.
