Today the free open beta starts for Crysis 3 multiplayer. If you don’t know Crysis, it’s probably the best looking first person shooter around, and its multiplayer modes are excellent.

The beta runs from today until February 12th 2013. You need to download EA’s Origin software to play the game, and create a free Origin account.

This allows you to play two game modes, Hunter and Crash Site, over two maps, Airport and Museum. If you’re not sure how to play, there’s an excellent video tutorial from Crytek, which will get you started.

The final game will contain 12 maps and 8 game modes in multiplayer, so this beta only shows us a little of the final product. If you enjoy FPS games it’s essential, so check it out!

Crysis games are always at the forefront of graphics performance, and from what we’ve seen of this beta, Crysis 3 is no exception. To get the best out of it, you’ll need a pretty powerful rig. Here are the requirements:

  • DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB video RAM
  • Dual core CPU
  • 2GB memory (3GB on Vista)

Recommended Specifications:

  • DirectX11 graphics card with 1GB video RAM
  • Quad core CPU
