Pichai is Google’s Senior Vice President for Android, Chrome and Google Apps. Next week’s event could yield information about Android, Chrome, or even both.

This year’s Google I/O conference left many fans disappointed that there wasn’t a new version of Android. Instead, Google chose to update major first-party applications on Android to create a better experience. This is a sound strategy as these updates brought new features to older phones without having to wait for carriers to update to the latest version of Android.

On the Chrome side of things, Pichai may announce the integration of Google Now into the browser. This would bring Google’s digital assistant app to all Chrome users, who make up over 17% of the browser market.

We won’t know the full details until next week. There is a livestream planned for the event for those who want to follow along as the event happens.
