A new Battlefield 4 trailer from Gamescom 2013 expands on what we already knew about “Levolution,” the company’s buzz word for manipulable and destructible environments. Games have featured destructible environments in the past but developer DICE hopes to take it a step further by dynamically changing the gameplay to the changing landscape.

In the trailer, a player is shown cornering an enemy in a train car, throwing a grenade into the car, and shutting the door. “Levolution” also creates changes on a larger scale, like with tropical storms flooding city streets. The trailer shows a battle ship breaching a seawall, leading to massive flooding.

Battlefield 4 is on track for release on October 29th this year for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. There are plans to bring the game to next generation consoles but there is no time frame for their release.
