Developer Rovio sent out a tweet about a mysterious announcement on Friday and it’s now been revealed that Angry Birds Star Wars is getting a sequel. The game will be coming out on September 19th for Android and iOS.

Angry Birds Star Wars II is going to be a prequel to Angry Birds Star Wars, revealing a whole new cast of characters we haven’t seen before. From the teaser screenshot Rovio provided, it looks like fans can expect to see characters from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace such as Darth Maul and Anakin Skywalker. It was also revealed that the game will include  thirty different characters.

In the teaser trailer below, it’s also revealed that players can now choose between playing as a Jedi or Sith, or as Rovio humorously calls it, “The Porkside.”

There will also apparently be a toy tie in with something called “telepods,” which briefly showed up in the teaser trailer as well. The toys should work similarly to what Skylanders is doing. Using your mobile device’s camera, you can bring the physical toy into the virtual world as a playable character.

More details about Angry Birds Star Wars II will be revealed in the coming weeks but in the mean time, check out the first Angry Birds Star Wars if you haven’t already.
