adobe lightroom 5Adobe has released the latest version of Lightroom. Version 5 comes as something completely separate from Adobe’s controversial subscription service, Adobe Creative Cloud. The new software can be purchased outright for $149 for Windows and Mac.

New to Lightroom 5, is an advanced healing brush, an upright straightening tool, smart previews, video slideshows, and the ability to create photo books, similar to what Apple has built into iPhoto.

One of the most exciting additions to Adobe Lightroom 5 is the upgraded healing brush. This tool has been in Lightroom and Photoshop for a can be used to remove unwanted objects from photos but it has been given more precise controls.

The new photo book feature is also very useful, allowing users to create albums with photo annotations, captions, and page numbers. Once you’ve completed your photo book, you can export it as a PDF or upload it to Blurb for printing. The new upright tool will automatically analyze your images and will make all of your photos leveled.

The new Lightroom 5 will run on OS X 10.7, 10.8, Windows 7 with SP1 or Windows 8. The minimum system requirements for Mac are a multi-core Intel processor and 64-bit support. Windows users are required to have an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 processor.
